Venerable Herbert Paul Kabanda Nyanzi is the new Archdeacon of Gayaza Archdeaconry. He was installed by the Secretary of Namirembe Diocese, Canon Nelson Kaweesa during a colorful function at St. Andrew's Church of Uganda, Gayaza, in Wakiso district on Sunday (October 4).

The function was graced by dignitaries from Buganda Kingdom, the Central Government and the Roman Catholic Church. They included the state minister for primary education Rosemary Ssenninde, the Buganda Kingdom County Chief of Kyadondo Agnes Nakibirige Ssempa, Omutaka Kayiira Gajuule, the head of the Mothers Union of Namirembe Diocese Josephine Kasaato and the parish-priest of Gayaza Catholic parish, Fr Jude Makanga, to mention a few.

While delivering his homily during the service, Canon Kaweesa congratulated Kabanda on his appointment and subsequent installation as the 8th Archdeacon of Gayaza. Kaweesa later asked Kabanda to exercise exemplary and productive leadership.

"Be a good shepherd of the flock that has been entrusted to you.  Make sure that the Christians are taught only the right doctrine of the faith. You have taken over office during a very challenging time when many of our people are struggling to survive because of the devastating effects of Covid-19 and, political and economic uncertainty. Please give our people hope. You are the representative of the Bishop. Therefore, ensure that the diocesan policies are properly implemented."
