Mengo Archdeaconry Council sits at St. Paul's Church Katwe II

Mengo Archdeaconry has held its Archdeaconry Council today Saturday 20th September 2014 at St. Paul's Church Katwe II. Before the meeting, there was a holy communion service led by Rev. Godfrey Buwembo the Parish Priest of Munyonyo Parish, assisted by Rev. Fredrick Lubega, the Parish Priest of Katwe II Parish.

In His sermon, during the Communion service, Rev. Godfrey Buwembo said that there was need to do a lot in our archdeaconry. 
"God has called us to be leaders in this Church. God wants us to lead this archdeaconry from one level to another. The group of disciples will increase as we continue doing what is Good." He noted

The meeting was well attended by all Council members including the Lay Readers from all the sub-parishes that comprise of the Archdeaconry.

In his address to the Council, Ven. John Gitta Kavuma pointed out that the work Christians had done for the renovation of Namirembe Cathedral was commendable. He reminded them that on Sunday 21st September 2014, in all the Churches, all collections were to go towards the completion of Namirembe Cathedral (Ttegula Campaign).

He thanked Christians for turning up in very big numbers during the last Musa Mukasa Celebrations at Munyonyo and the Uganda Martyrs' day at Namugongo. He said that on the issue of the land at Munyonyo where Musa Mukasa was martyred, he had gone with Bishop Luwalira to meet the Buganda Land Board team to see that they give Mengo Archdeaconry a lease to develop that place into a modern worship centre and were still waiting for communication from the Buganda Land Board Offices.

On the issue of the Archdeacon's house, he said that Mrs. Magumba's Committee was about to give a report on the progress and how they would close that project.

He called upon members to encourage christians from their churches to participate in the Diocesan Convention  to be held in October 2014.

The Archdeacon also appealed to members to encourage members of the Christian Women's Fellowship to attend the closure of St. Mary Magdalene's feast on 12th October 2014 at St. Luke Kibuye starting at 10:30am.
